365 Days of ABD!
365 is a magic number! Yes it's the number of days in a year! But it's something I like to follow and always thinking about doing! I've always been looking for a creative outlet! 365 is something newish to me. I've only seen it in the last 8 months or so while surfing the web at work. OK I'll explain.
Do a search for 365 on Flickr. I used to be a videographer so browsing Flickr is something I've always loved doing. Such amazing pictures. If you have never done so just to go there now and enter any word that pops to your mind and see where it takes you. That is the real joy i get from Flickr. Usually I deal with moving pictures but these can tell just as much of a story as anything video you watch! Another reason i like Flickr is because I'm a people watcher in real life. I love seeing an expression and wondering what that person is thinking or feeling. Seeing the looks people give when they think nobody is watching can be very entertaining. The same is true with Flickr. There are alot of pictures that are all about the look someone is trying to capture. Then there are all the pictures of women who are in love with their feet or Striped socks! Then there are the men who just discovered Photoshop for the first time. You know, the pictures you see see where its been thru photoshop hell and you can't even tell where the real photo is anymore? I know everyone uses photoshop! I just like the pictures where you can't tell they used! There is one picture on Flickr that really shows this well. If I had to guess Id say she used PS to create it after taking a few pictures and then jamming them together. The picture is of her on a bed but you see two more people who are also clearly her! It looks like its been PS but I can't tell and that's the point!
So back to 365. 365 is usually all about self portraits! 365 of them! One from EACH day in your life for one year!! For one year! That's alot of photos! To me its like a visual Blog of your life. Granted I'm new to the blog thing but to try and write something everyday of the year seems pretty much insane to me! I guess snapping a picture each once a day would be easy by comparison. Or would it? How would you do it? How would I do it? I sit in front of a computer most of my day. My life just isn't interesting enough to be captured like that. Usually people have a theme. Most of the time its just random! I'm sure everyone goes thru phases. One month is women shooting their feet, while the men shoot scary faces! The next its pictures of backs and happy faces! I'm not sure how long i could keep coming up with something new and interesting. It's still something, like this blog, that I'd love to try one day. You guys with good cameras should do that! I guess my fan club kind of is "365 days of ABD!" WOOT!!! You can't steal that name it's mine now in case i do start one of those!! Trademarked!
At the very least I need to get my camera working and take some damn pictures. I don't have alot of pictures of me. Most are pretty old.
If you never have just explored Flickr I highly recommend it. There are so many Amazing wonderful pictures!! Exploring the 365 is one of my favorite things to do! The other on there is to just type in random words and see what pops up! :D Don't try that one at work! You really never know what could pop up!
